| 1. | General Problem: | When you run the program, many SCREENS DISPLAY IMPROPERLY. Words appear over other words, sentences are run off the screen, etc. | |||
| Possible Cause: | You probably do not have the required fonts loaded onto your system. | ||||
| Solution: | For proper display, you need to install the two fonts (Andale Sans and Andale Sans Bold) located on the CD. Do so through the Fonts folder in the Control Panel.
Place the CD in your computer's CD-ROM drive. When you click on Install New Font, you are given an Add Fonts box. At the bottom right, choose the CD-ROM drive. To the left of this, you will see a list of folders, including one called Fonts. Double click on the Fonts folder. At the top of the Add Fonts box, the two Andale Sans fonts should appear in the List of Fonts. Click on Select All, then on OK. Remember that if the program is loaded on a network, every workstation must have these two fonts installed for the program to display correctly. If you open the fonts control panel for the first time and see the Andale Sans fonts already present, delete them. Then follow the procedure described above to reinstall them properly. If, while reinstalling, you receive an error message (the fonts cannot be installed because another version is already present), you will have to remove the fonts from the Windows Registry before re-installing. Use extreme caution when editing the registryãmaking even a small, unintended change can damage Windows or other applications.

| 2. | General Problem: | On some pages, GRAPHICS ARE MISSING. When I click on Pre-Test or Post-Test, all you see is a white screen. There seem to be graphics missing in the lessons, as well. | |||
| Possible Cause: | You do not have the required version of Quicktime. | ||||
| Solution: | Each workstation running the program must have Quicktime 2.1.2 installed. From the CD, locate the Quicktime folder and run the QT32.exe setup program. You will be prompted to check for existing versions of Quicktime. You should be able to safely skip this stepãversions of Quicktime 3 and under can safely co-exist with versions number 4 and higher. You can exit the Quicktime installer without viewing the sample movie and readme if you wish. | ||||

| 3. | General Problem: | There is NO SHORTCUT on the computer's desktop and you DO NOT KNOW HOW TO LAUNCH THE PROGRAM. | |||
| Possible Cause: | Most installers create a shortcut on the desktop, but some do not. You just have to create a shortcut for yourself. | ||||
| Solution: | The program should be in a Preged (or Bskills) folder on the drive to which you installed it. Open the program folder and find the prlogon or bslogon folder. Open this folder to find preged32.exe or bskill32.exe. Right click on this file, and choose Send To, Desktop (create shortcut). Because the installation of the program has been completed, you can choose not to restart your computer. | ||||

| 4. | General Problem: | When you set up teachers, some TEACHERS' NAMES APPEAR AS COMMAS. The teachers' names do not appear in the list. Instead, commas appear. | |||
| Cause: | There is a bug in the program. | ||||
| Solution: | This problem occurs if you use the letter "t" as part of a teacher or student password. Do not use the letter "t" in passwords. To remove the comma, exit the program and locate the prdata or bsdata folder (in the main program folder). Open the records folder, and find the folder containing the letter "t" in the name. Delete the folder. Launch the program again and register the teacher or student using a different password. | ||||

| 5. | General Problem: | The program ASKS FOR A NINE-DIGIT PASSWORD, BUT ONLY TAKES EIGHT DIGITS. | |||
| Cause: | The instructions are incorrect. | ||||
| Solution: | Use an eight-digit password. If using a nine-digit identifier, drop the last digit. At the time the program was designed, some computers could not support file names longer than eight characters. | ||||
