Core Concepts in Health pioneered the concept of personal responsibility for health and individual behavior change back in 1976. Now in its 11th edition, it is still the market leader and is known for its scientific research base and its currency, comprehensiveness, and accuracy.

Features:

Connect is a web-based assignment and assessment platform. All of the content within the Connect platform is book-specific to Core Concepts in Health. With Connect, students can explore interactive activities organized by chapter learning objectives, and professors can create activities that align with your syllabus. Correlation Guide:

www.mhhe.com/mhcp/CorrelationGuides/AE_Health_1011.pdf

This convenient guide matches the units in Annual Editions: Health 10/11 with the corresponding chapters in three of our best-selling McGraw-Hill Health textbooks by Hahn et al., Payne et al., and Insel/Roth.

To highlight the importance of environmental issues as a part of the personal health curriculum, the chapter on Environmental Health has been moved up to chapter 19 in this edition of Connect Core Concepts in Health. In addition, environmental issues are called out through the text via the new Thinking about the Environment boxes found in each chapter. The text emphasizes that students are not just individuals but also participants in communities and citizens of a "planet in peril" - one that needs care and protection if it is to continue providing us with the means to healthy lives.

Quick Stats A new feature in the eleventh edition is Quick Stats—a marginal notation highlighting a particularly striking statistic from the text. Quick Stats appear several times in each chapter, calling students' attention to key data. Examples include "45.7 million Americans have stopped smoking" and "71% of American men are overweight."

Questions for Critical Thinking and Reflection boxes appear at the end of major sections within each chapter.

The eleventh edition features a new, more visually appealing design. Dozens of photos and illustrations have been added, along with new and updated graphics, more readable tables and figures, and many colorful points of interest throughout each chapter.
