COPPA Guidelines

The McGraw-Hill Companies is dedicated to protecting the safety and privacy of students and educators accessing McGraw-Hill's online educational products. All McGraw-Hill products comply with rules and regulations enforced by the federal government.

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), passed by Congress in October 1998, governs how Web sites collect and use personal information from children under the age of 13. The primary goal is to allow parents to control what information is collected from their children online.

Glencoe eSolutions Programs and COPPA

In order to comply with COPPA, Glencoe eSolutions products are designed so that personal information is not collected from children under the age of 13, except for limited circumstances that are allowed under COPPA and with the consent of the parent/guardian.

To further protect the privacy of children, if students are asked to self-register, then they register using only first name and last initial. All communication between students and teachers is encrypted. In situations where files are exchanged between student and teacher, all files are secure and inadmissible to everyone, except the student and the teacher.
