GLENCOE/McGRAW-HILL ANNOUNCES JAMESTOWN EDUCATION CLASSROOM GIVEAWAY

NEW YORK (September 4, 2007) – Why do your students need a strong reading intervention program? If your school or district has a compelling answer to that question, you may win a free semester of Jamestown Reading Navigator™ and $5,000 in Jamestown supplemental print products – the top prizes in a Glencoe/McGraw-Hill contest announced today. The online contest runs through Oct. 31.

Six contest winners will be announced Nov. 15, according to Christopher Barry, marketing manager for Jamestown Education. In addition to a free semester of Jamestown Reading Navigator™, winners of the contest will be able to select $5,000 worth of materials from Jamestown Education’s supplemental print library.

Jamestown Reading Navigator™ is a complete reading intervention curriculum with explicit reading skill instruction for middle school and high school students reading two or more years below grade level. It includes online and print resources based on the latest research in adolescent literacy, documented classroom success and teacher input. The online component of Jamestown Reading Navigator™ incorporates multimedia animation and audio support. To increase reading fluency, students can even record themselves reading and submit their best recording to the teacher. The program includes print-based materials that integrate high-interest content and leveled selections that are thematically connected to the online program and include exclusive reading selections from TIME magazine.

The program is receiving strong endorsements from educators across the country. “I strongly recommend Jamestown Reading Navigator™ as a reading intervention program for school districts,” said Judy Prisco, reading teacher and information systems specialist in Southbridge, Mass. “One of my students had a reputation for throwing books across the room and storming out of the classroom. I invited him to join a Jamestown Reading Navigator™ reading class. Within weeks, I saw a change in his attitude. In a couple of months, he apologized for his disrespectful behavior and said he could not read well previously. He thanked me for sticking with him and giving him a second chance withJamestown Reading Navigator™.”

“For over 35 years, Jamestown Education has been a leading publisher of reading materials for middle school, high school and adult learners,” said Barry. “Our supplemental products help students improve their reading skills, comprehension and fluency through engaging print content at accessible readability levels.
