GLENCOE/McGRAW-HILL ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF
JAMESTOWN EDUCATION CLASSROOM GIVEAWAY
NEW YORK (Jan. 25, 2008) –
Glencoe/McGraw-Hill announced today it has selected the winners
of its first Jamestown Education Classroom Giveaway. Six schools
will receive a free semester of Jamestown
Reading Navigator™ and
$5,000 in Jamestown supplemental print products.
For more than 35 years, Jamestown Education has been a leading
publisher of reading materials for middle school, high school
and adult learners. Jamestown
Reading Navigator™, one of the newest Jamestown
programs, is a complete online and print-based reading intervention
curriculum with explicit reading skill instruction for middle
school and high school students reading two or more years below
grade level.
Educators across the country submitted essays explaining why
their school needed a strong reading intervention program.
The essays were reviewed and the winners selected by an internal
committee at Jamestown Education.
“We were overwhelmed by the number of entries we received
and the passion teachers showed for giving their students the
best learning environment possible,” said Christopher Barry,
marketing manager for Jamestown Education. “I’m so proud that
we are able to support these teachers in their efforts.”
Winners of the Jamestown Education Classroom Giveaway are:
- College Place Middle School - Lynnwood, Washington
- Global Visions Academy - Chicago, Illinois
- The James F. Murray School, P.S. #38 - Jersey City, New
Jersey
- Manchester Memorial High School - Manchester, New Hampshire
- Mound Street Academies - Dayton, Ohio
- Orangeview Junior High School - Anaheim, California
Jamestown Education programs are receiving strong endorsements
from educators. “My students love several aspects of Jamestown
Reading Navigator™: the interesting non-fiction stories,
going at their own pace and using computers instead of writing
on paper,” said one Grade 7 ESL teacher. “…My students wish
they could work with the program every day!”
