The Science and Technology Videodisc Series brings the excitement of actual science research into the classroom and
aids in the understanding of many scientific concepts and processes. Students observe real scientists performing both
laboratory and field research on problems that have a profound impact on our lives. |
Features
- Seven videodiscs with 280 full-motion video reports originally produced by Don Herbert,
television's "Mr. Wizard," for TV news broadcasts.
- Though organized into seven content areas - Physics, Chemistry, Earth and Space,
Plants and Simple Organisms, Animals, Ecology, and Human Biology - most of the reports
span several disciplines, making them a great tool for integrating the sciences.
- Immediate access to any report and the capability to speed up, slow down, or
freeze frame any image.
- Reports can be called up by remote control or bar code reader. Bar codes are printed
in both the Teacher Guide Quick Directory and on individual report pages.

Teacher Guides
- Come with each videodisc and suggest two or more specific strategies for using the video
reports to introduce or extend specific science lessons.
- Provide information to help you tie the content to science concepts, technology, or
societal issues.
- Contain a summary of every report, a complete narrative script of the video report,
and a brief update on the research discussed in individual reports.
- Provide a correlation for each report to several Glencoe science texts.
- Separate bar-coded Teacher Guides are available for every Glencoe science program.
