Introduction
The Minoan civilization began around 2800 B.C. on Crete, an island in the Mediterranean Sea. For about 1400 years, the Minoans lived prosperous and culturally rich lives. Palaces built by the Minoans had up to eight hundred rooms, were adorned with brightly colored frescoes, and had bathrooms with bathtubs and flush toilets. Crete today enjoys a large tourist industry, partly because of interest in the ancient Minoan ruins that were found in Knossos.
