Introduction
On April 1, 1774, the headline of the Boston Gazette read "High Tea In Boston Harbor." Colonial animosity toward the British Crown and its appointed officers was growing, and a group of patriots rebelled by throwing English tea into Boston Harbor. Colonial newspapers publicizing the Harbor incident and pamphlets denouncing British taxation fueled anti-Crown sentiments.
