  • Click on "Timeline" in the menu of the left-hand side of the page.
  • Scroll down and read about the history of Mount Everest.
  • Answer the following questions.

2.  Indian leaders were concerned about Russian influence in Tibet. What Tibetan leader fled the country in 1904 after negotiations fell through?


3.  In what year did George Mallory first attempt the summit? What is the mystery surrounding George Mallory's final climb of Mount Everest?


4.  What pair was the first to reach the summit of Mount Everest?


5.  Pretend that you are a part of an expedition to the summit of Mount Everest. Create a journal with at least five daily entries detailing your experiences on this climb.
