Introduction
In the years of the Texas Republic and early Texas statehood, cotton was the most important cash crop grown in the state. Chapter 13 introduces you to the farmers who cultivated this important crop. In this activity, you will learn more about cotton farming in antebellum Texas. "Antebellum" means "before the Civil War."
