In this chapter you have read about early civilizations. You know that ancient Egyptian civilization had three great periods: the Old Kingdom, the Middle Kingdom, and the New Kingdom. It was during this last period that Egypt became a major power, and some of its best-known pharaohs were important and influential figures in the history of the region.
