Consumers, businesses, and governments all must make economic decisions based on scarcity. To make wise choices consumers must understand the type of economy they have and stay informed. All consumers should know that they have consumer rights as well as legal rights. In this activity you will take a closer look at how consumers can protect their interests when shopping on the Internet.

  • Click on and read the various online shopping tips.

After reading through the information answer the following questions.

1.  How can you tell if you are placing an order on a secure Web site?


2.  What is the recommended way to pay for online purchases? Why?


3.  What sort of records about your purchase should you keep?


4.  Describe what actions you can take if you are not satisfied with the transaction.


5.  Summarize the information about online shopping tips. Use this information to create an information flyer for consumers. Use colors and graphics to make your brochure visually appealing.
