Art Director

Description of Responsibilities
Art directors develop design ideas for printed materials and digital media. To do so, they organize the visual presentation, review the material going into the presentation, and decide how to present the information. Their goal is to create a presentation that is visually pleasing and well organized. They may work independently or manage teams of artists and writers.

Education, Training, and Professional Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in fine arts or visual communications is usually required. Management and design-related experience is also helpful.

Other Considerations
Management and communication skills are very important in team settings, because the art director must manage the team.
