Exhibit Designer

Description of Responsibilities
Exhibit designers design presentations of collections, temporary exhibits, and various traveling shows. Their presentations may be located at museums, art galleries, showrooms, trade shows, or department stores. Exhibit designers are responsible for borrowing the objects needed for their presentations. In addition, they determine the placement of each object and ensure the best possible lighting conditions. Art and museum directors, trade show sponsors, and curators often work with exhibit designers in designing presentations. In addition to design, exhibit designers often help with the construction of exhibits.

Education, Training, and Professional Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in fine arts is strongly recommended, as is job experience.

Other Considerations
Exhibit designers work long and irregular hours; they are often under pressure to make rapid changes.
