Web Designer

Description of Responsibilities
Web designers create or update the visual aspect of Web sites. Their designs may include text, photos, three-dimensional or moving graphics, sound, and interactive devices. Working with clients, they choose the colors, images, and layout of each page. Because it can take a user's computer a long time to display images, a Web designer must balance a great design with functionality. A Web design must also be consistent with the site's content.

Education, Training, and Professional Qualifications
A diploma or professional degree in graphic design or art design is helpful. Experience with file format programs and imaging programs, along with knowledge of computer programming, is also beneficial.

Other Considerations
Web designers need to understand the main goals of their clients and the relationship between design and content. They must be able to work both alone and in teams. They must be good at meeting deadlines.
