Chapter 12: Transfer of Contracts and Remedies for Breach

Chapter Overview: Ready to Learn?
You may legally transfer the rights under any contract to which you have agreed, unless the contract specifically says you can’t. The transfer of a right under a contract is called an assignment. Duties may also be transferred. This transfer of a duty is called a delegation. A breach of contract occurs when one party to a contract fails to perform the duties set out in the terms of the agreement. In this chapter, you will become prepared to handle assigned rights and duties as well as breach of contract issues.
