Creating a Travel Brochure
Now you know a great deal about Antarctica the history and geography, the
climate, and the animals that you might see if you were to travel there. Would
you want to visit this continent? Before you answer, look at one trip that was
planned for tourists:
On this 10-day trip, you will fly from Buenos Aires to the southernmost
tip of South America on the island of Tierra del Fuego. From there you will
board a fabulous cruise ship, one of only a few that were designed to move through
the iceburg-strewn waters that conventional cruise ships cannot traverse. As we move you will
have the opportunity to see thousands of penguins, seabirds, and elephant seals moving quietly through these spectacular waters.
From Tierra del Fuego, we will cruise through the Drake passage - the world's
most southerly ocean. On-board naturalists will provide presentations of the
history, wildlife, and other interesting information about Antarctica. After
two days of exceptional birdwatching, unbelievable scenery, and fabulous food,
you will see the most remote place on earth, Antarctica.
We will make several journeys and beach landings from the ship in smaller boats,
depending on the weather conditions. We will observe several types of whales,
seals, and penguins. We will visit the international research station, and interact
with scientists on the current studies. Finally, we will make our way to Deception
Island and Elephant Island, both known for seabirds and a variety of wildlife.
Throughout this part of our trip, we will have lectures and presentations about
the geology, geography, climate, and wildlife of Antarctica and the surrounding
islands.
Now it is time for you to construct a travel brochure.
