How Do I Want The World To Be Better When I Grow Up?
What Can I Do Now To Make This Happen?
All students participating in Kidlink must register by answering these questions
using this this web
form. The lesson sets the tone for their interactions.
Teachers use the four questions across
curriculums: in writing (to express personal thoughts, compare and
contrast submitted ideas), language arts, mathematics (analyze and
interpret data using diagrams and graphics), social sciences (research
how historical incidents influence answers), technology (submit text and
graphics through the web). They are also used in preventive mental
health, and to help prepare kids and youth for meetings with peers
through the Internet.
Important: Registration gives
your students a personal user name and password needed to access our
non-public services. The contents of all answers are archived and accessible through a
database (mailing list archive) called Response.
Their email addresses and last names are removed in these answers. Such
information is only available for participating kids and youth. Use of the archive is
integrated with other educational offerings.
Teachers are recommended to let their
students answer these questions by using the
related lesson plans of Who-Am-I? program. This program
expands into a full eight month series of project units for those who
wish to participate over a longer period of time.
Before you start, try answer the four questions yourself.
Consider sending your responses to the appropriate Kidleader
or educational
program coordination mailing list. This will let you feel the
tension of sharing personal thoughts with a global audience, and give
you a feeling for the importance of the four questions. All too often,
students submit surprisingly sloppy answers...
Participation in Kidlink youth activities is
limited to children through the secondary school level. Kidlink welcomes
both school-based students and individual participation from students at
home.
