Hands-On-Health
When you attend a play, all you see onstage
are the actors performing their parts. Yet, the production
could not succeed without the support of numerous unseen backstage
personnel. In much the same way, a ball game or other sporting
event involves the joint efforts of a number of behind-the-scenes
personnel, not the least of whom is the athletic trainer and/or
team physician. Responsible for maintaining the health of
the players both on and off the field, this sports medicine
professional is in a very real sense the team guardian.
