An Apple a Day: Assessing Your Eating Habits

Hands-On-Health

Have you ever heard the saying "You are what you eat"? There is much truth to these words. Your overall level of health depends on the foods you put into your body--and on those you do not. Some foods, such as chocolate and cola drinks, contain caffeine, a stimulant drug that can make you restless and edgy. Other foods, such as pasta, rice, and most bread products, give you energy to burn.

Try This: You are about to take a closer look at your eating habits and what they contribute to your health. First, click on the button that will print out your worksheet, and fill out the information in the Diary section as best you can. Then go to the Web site listed below under Health Links, and click on the button labeled "Instructions." You will be prompted to enter information about yourself and foods you have eaten. When you have finished your Eating Assessment, print out the findings and use them to complete the rest of the worksheet.
