Planning Healthful Meals

Hands-On-Health

If someone offered to sell you a box with no label, markings, or other clues to its contents, would you be willing to buy the box? Of course not! Yet, this is precisely what most people do when it comes to fast food. Totally unaware of the nutritional content of these foods, they pay their money and take their chances--with their health. How about you? How much do you know about what is in fast food?

Try This: Like any other food, fast foods are made up of differing amounts of protein, fat, carbohydrates, and other nutrients. In this activity, you will learn about the nutrient values of these foods and how to make wise decisions when you eat in fast-food restaurants. First, click on the button that will print out your worksheet. Then go to the Web site identified under Health Links, and follow the directions on the worksheet.
