Health Quests
A Healthy Environment
Objectives
After completing this activity,
students should be able to
- identify causes of air, water, and land pollution.
- discuss ways to reduce pollution and protect the environment.
- present environmental information in a concise and creative
way.
Motivator Ask
students to describe some forms of pollution they have noticed
in their neighborhood, on school grounds, or in the community.
Does this pollution affect the air, water, or land? What can
be done to clean it up? Who should be responsible for cleaning
it up? How can this type of pollution be prevented in the
future? Have students discuss their answers as a group.
Suggestion
Ask for volunteers to read their
bumper stickers out loud or display them in the classroom,
and ask them to explain their goals. As a class, discuss the
bumper stickers. Did the students achieve their goals? Did
the bumper stickers contain clear messages about the environment?
Would they appeal to the general public? Which bumper stickers
were the most memorable? Why?
