Control Your Breathing
Ways
to control your breathing when you are stressed:
If you cannot take a big breath and relax yourself try the
following:
- Blow ALL the air out of your lungs as if you are blowing
candles out on a large birthday cake. Once air is forced
out of your lungs, you will have room to take a big breath.
Or ...
- Count to four on the inhale, hold for four counts, exhale
for four, hold for four. A very relaxing, conscious way
to get control of your breath.
- If you are hyperventilating, you may feel dizzy. You have
taken in too much oxygen because you are "panting."
Hold your breath for a count of four.
