Moderators

Members
Members are registered users of the bulletin board that have posted at least 31 messages. Members can change their own password, but may not edit/remove messages, set user permissions, or assign moderators.

Junior Members
Junior Members are registered users who have posted fewer than 31 messages. Their privileges are identical to those of Members.

UBB Code
UBB Code is an HTML-like tag set that allows bulletin board writers to add additional functionality to their posts. Current UBB Code functions include hyperlinking URLs and email addresses.

Forum
A Forum is a broad discussion area covering a particular interest. Each forum is controlled by a moderator who is a subject-matter expert. The moderator reviews all submissions, answers questions, and facilitates discussion.

A Topic is a discussion point within a Forum.  Any registered user can start a new Topic within a Forum.

Reply
A Reply is a post that is in response to an existing topic. Any registered user can post a reply.

Thread

Who can participate in McGraw-Hill bulletin boards?

We invite educators and students to participate. You must register first.

Why should I register?

You may only post Topics, Questions, and/or Replies if you are registered. Registration is free (and easy).

What must I put in my profile?

Your profile is the form you complete for registration. Only the User Name and Password are required. We suggest that for privacy, you submit only your first name for a username. You may edit your profile at any time.

Can I attach files to my Topic or Reply?

No.  You may cut and paste within the input box for your Topic or Reply, however.

Can I customize the bulletin board in any way?

Yes. All users, even unregistered users, can set preferences. Currently, there are only 2 preferences. The first allows you to store your username and password for up to one year. This will prevent you from having to type your username and password each new session.

The second preference option concerns the standard number of days back you want to see threads with new posts. You can change this default.

What does the forum moderator do?

The moderators review submissions to the forum, facilitate the conversation, and share their expertise. Moderators may edit or decline to post messages prior to posting.

I've just seen a post that was offensive. Is there anything I can do about it?

You should post a reply to the topic stating your concern. If necessary, the moderator has the ability to delete or edit a post.

Can I incorporate HTML in my posts?

Yes.

Who is responsible for McGraw-Hill bulletin boards?

McGraw-Hill provides bulletin boards as a resource for educators and students alike. More details about the workings of the forums can be found under Rules and Policies when you click register.
