American Woman Helps Former Khmer Rouge
This article highlights the life and work of Linda McKinney, an American who assists former members of the Khmer Rouge, the rebels who drove Pin Yathay and his wife into exile. In the Web Links Activity Log, record your thoughts about Ms. McKinney’s actions. What motivates her? Would you be able to help people who were once responsible for the suffering and death of so many human beings?

Will Justice Ever Be Served?
Although more than twenty years have passed since the Khmer Rouge held power in Cambodia, its leaders have yet to be tried for their crimes. According to this article, "[t]he Prime Minister told his people at the end of 1998 that they should 'dig a hole and bury the past.' Preserving the new-found peace, he argued, was more important than confronting the old crimes." Write an editorial sharing your opinion of the Prime Minister’s suggestion.
