Republic of Kenya
This
site provides information and photographs of Kenya. When you
finish reading the country information, click the Photo
Gallery and things to do links at the top of the
page to see photographs of Kenya and to read about its many
attractions. With a small group of classmates, create a radio
commercial that would entice travelers to visit Kenya. You
might want to include sound effects to accompany your spoken
text. Record your commercial and share it with the class.
4th
Pan-African Historical Theatre Festival
Every few years since 1991, Ghana has hosted PANAFEST,
a theater festival with workshops, live street performances,
and a lecture series. After reading the historical information
here, click photo gallery to see images of the fest
and outline to learn about the types of activities
that take place. Imagine that Bones will be performed
during the next PANAFEST. In the Web
Links Activities Log, write a two or three sentence introduction
to the play that might be used in a promotional brochure for
the festival.
Safe
Food Handling Practices
This informative page from the National Food Safety
Database Web site provides advice on how to safely handle
food products to avoid food-borne illnesses. Tips are given
on what to look for when buying food, how to prepare, cook,
and serve food, and what to check at restaurants. Use the
information to write a 30-second public service announcement
about food safety.
