Preparing for DECA Competitive Events
Many of DECA's competitive events include
comprehensive written tests that are comprised of 15 percent
questions on the foundations of marketing, 35 percent questions
on the functions of marketing, and 50 percent questions on the
specialized occupational area of the event in which you have
chosen to compete. To prepare yourself
for the occupation-specific portion of DECA's written tests,
you should develop your knowledge of the jargon specific to
the marketing area in which you are competing. Study the following
marketing occupation-specific glossaries
then test your understanding with the corresponding randomized
multiple choice tests. Because the 10-question
tests are randomly generated from a bank of 50 questions,
you can test yourself over and over again. In addition, we
have also provided lists of trade journals and Web
links relevant to an occupational area if you want
to learn more about the area in which you plan to compete.
Good luck!
