The minimum number of moves is 16. The easiest way to solve this is to use the checkerboard and knight diagram and to draw lines illustrating the possible moves. Next, draw a circle with 8 numbered points each connected to the two points in the original diagram. These two arrangements are similar in that the first may be unfolded to form the second. The moves in this arrangement are obvious.
