Puzzling Pentomino Paths

Strategies and Hints

The first shape has 9 possible paths to follow going from point 1 to point X. The second shape has 12 paths. For any shape made of squares and for paths always traveling right and down, you need to start at 1 and compute the number of paths to each point as you go down and to the right. This is done by summing the possibilities to the left and up. (see example)
