Strategies and Hints

1. Note that the length of one side of the final square will be 3 tomes the length of the side of puzzle piece 1.

   

2. The length of each side of the finished square will be 3 units. There is no side of another puzzle piece that can be used together with the hypotenuse of puzzle piece 3 to make a segment of length of 3 units.

3. The two shortest sides because each of them is 1 unit long.

4. Pieces 2, 3, 4, and 5 can be used to make a square with an area of 8 square units.
