Use groups of 4.
Materials: Number cube, spinner, notebook paper
|
What's the Problem? |
Make the spinner shown.
Begin by rolling the number cube and spinning the spinner to get a ratio. Use the number from the cube as your numerator value and the number from the spinner as your denominator value. Record this ratio.
Write a word problem that uses this ratio to set up a proportion. On a separate sheet of paper, write the solution to the problem, showing all steps. Continue until you have 4 different word problems. Groups should then trade problem sets, solve, and compare their answers to those supplied by the authors.
