Measurements

Use groups of 4.
Materials: Salt or sand, graduated beakers, objects to measure capacity of--for example, mugs, drinking glasses, thimbles, spoons
Capacity Crowd

Select at least four objects for which you will find the capacity. Decide on an estimate for the capacity of each object.

Fill each object with salt or sand. Then pour the salt or sand into a graduated beaker. Record your measurements on a sheet of paper. How close were your estimates?

Share your findings with other groups.
