Round the Clock

Label equal sections of a spinner "Start" and "End."

Work in pairs. On a separate sheet of paper, each partner secretly writes a time, such as 10:30 A.M. or 1:57 P.M. Then one partner in each pair spins the spinner to determine whether the time he or she wrote is the start time or the end time for computing the elapsed time. (For example, suppose you wrote 10:30 A.M., your partner wrote 1:57 P.M., and you spun "End." This means you want to find out how much time elapsed between 1:57 P.M. and 10:30 A.M.10h 3min + 10h 30min = 20h 33min.) Try to have a greater elapsed time than the other pair in your group. Play several rounds.
