Make Your Move

Make a game board like the one shown below. Make sure each square is large enough for a counter to fit in it. Each square represents a move of 0.1. Then, copy each expression below onto an index card. Shuffle the cards and place them face down in a stack on the table. Each player chooses a colored counter and places it on the Start Square.

Game board

The first player begins by turning over the first card. Using the grid paper, the player finds the quotient and the other players check this answer. The player then moves his or her counter that number of tenths. For example, if the first player's quotient is 2.1, he or she will move 21 spaces. Players take turns until all of the cards have been used. The player that gets closest to the Finish Square without going over is the winner. A player cannot go past the last square. So, if a player finds a quotient of 0.9 and there are not 9 spaces left, then he or she may not move the counter and loses that turn.
