A Search for Ratios

As a group, brainstorm a list of places that you see ratios during the day. For example, you may hear a ratio on the news or you may observe that 5 out of 25 students in the class wear glasses. Select your five best examples. Write a story about a typical day using these five examples. Include calculations and at least one instance of using a ratio expressed as a percent. For example, if you wrote a story describing your class, you might include ratios on their likes and dislikes and express the ratios as percents. If 10 out of 25 students watch TV daily, that is 40% of the class.

Finally, share your stories with the class.
