On the Road Again

The driving distances between certain U.S. cities are shown in the table below. Use the table to solve the following problems. (Hint: You can estimate sums to eliminate possibilities.) Try to be the first pair to solve all of the problems.

  1. A truck driver is based in Indianapolis. His route to another city shown in the table takes him through a third city shown in the table. He travels 1,204 miles one way. Name the other two cities on the driver's rout.
  2. A sales representative leaves her home in Pittsburgh and travels halfway to her destination in one of the other cities shown in the table before she realizes that she has forgotten her sample case. So she turns around, drives back home, picks up her case, and starts out again. By the time the sales representative gets back home from the other city, she has driven 864 miles. Where did she go?
