Use groups of 5.
Materials: Spinner, index cards
Making Numbers

Label the sections of a spinner with the digits 0-9. Then write the following terms on cards, one per card: ones, tenths, hundredths, thousandths, ten-thousandths. Shuffle the cards and place them face down in a pile.

Each group member spins the spinner and selects a card to determine the place of the digit. Reshuffling the cards each time form ten numbers as described above. What is the greatest number formed? the least?

Compare your results with those of other groups.
