and Operations

Use groups of 3.
Materials: Spinners, number cubes
Quick Change

Decide which number cube will stand for digits in hundreds place, which number cube will stand for tens place, and which number cube will stand for ones place. Label equal sections of a spinner "1," "2," "3," "4," "5," "6."

Generate a three-digit factor by tossing all three number cubes at the same time. Repeat the procedure and then spin the spinner. The number on the spinner tells the number of decimal places you will write in the product. Change the location of the decimal point in one or both of the three-digit factors you created so that the sum of the number of decimal places in the factors is the number of decimal places in the product. Then write a multiplication sentence.

Repeat the procedure several times, taking turns at the spinner.
