Estimation Race

Copy onto a large sheet of paper (or several smaller pieces taped together) the game board shown below. Make the game board large enough for a counter to fit on each tick.

Copy onto cards the expressions shown below, one per card. Shuffle the cards and place them face down in a pile.

One partner selects a card, estimates the sum or difference on the card, and moves his or her counter this number of ticks. Continue in the same way, taking turns selecting a card, until one partner reaches the last tick.
