Each partner takes 20 beans. Then, in turn, each partner selects a card from the stack and solves the two-step equation shown. The positive solution to an equation tells how many beans to add to the beans you already have. A negative solution tells how many beans to take away from the beans you already have. Continue in this way until one partner has no beans left or until you have played for 10 minutes. The winner is the partner who gets rid of his or her beans first or who has fewer beans after 10 minutes.
