|
Right from the Start |
Write the numbers 1 through 15 on index cards. Shuffle the cards and place them face down in a pile. Label equal sections of one spinner "× 3," "× 4," "× 5," "× 8." This will be spinner A. Label equal sections of a second spinner "+ 3," "-1," "+ 12," "-2." This will be spinner B. Decide who will be player 1 and player 2.
Player 1 selects a card. Player 2 then spins spinner A and player 1 mentally performs the operation shown on the spinner on the number he or she selected. Player 2 then spins spinner B and player 1 mentally performs this operation on the product he or she just found. Player 1 then says the resulting number. Player 2 must guess player 1's original number. Write equations to help you guess numbers. Trade roles and repeat the procedure. Each partner should guess at least three original numbers.
