Plug It In

Copy onto cards the expressions shown below, one per card. Shuffle the cards and place them face down in a pile. Label equal sections of one spinner "-5," "-3," "-1," "2," "3," "6." You will replace the variable a in the expressions on the cards with these numbers. Label equal sections of another spinner "-6," "-4," "-2," "1," "4," "5." You will replace the variable b with these numbers.

One partner flips over a card. Try to be the first to evaluate the expression correctly by replacing the variables with the numbers on the spinners. The winner of each round gets 1 point. Continue, taking turns flipping over cards, until no cards remain in the pile. The overall winner is the partner with the most points.
