Spellbound

Copy onto cards the following words, one per card.

Each group member selects one card. Work in pairs. Ask twenty people to spell the two words you and your partner selected. Determine the number of people who could spell the first word only, the second word only, both words, or neither word. Record the responses in a frequency table.

Copy the Venn diagram shown below. Write the number of responses in the appropriate place. Do not write the number of people who mispelled both words.

Trade Venn Diagrams with the other pair in your group. Find the number of people who could not spell the other pair's two words.
