Line Construction

Each player should have a sheet of grid paper and a sheet of notebook paper, with their name on both sheets. All players begin by using a compass, protractor, and ruler to construct a shape using only line segments on their grid paper. The shape must have at least 5 line segments. On a separate sheet of paper, each player will write down the exact steps used to construct the shape. Each player should keep his or her directions.

Next, each player will pass this shape to the player on his or her right. Under the directions for his or her own shape, each player will write the directions for the shape that was given to them. Make sure this shape is labeled with the player's name that constructed the shape. Repeat this procedure for the final shape.

When all players are done writing, compare the directions written for each shape. If the directions are different for a particular shape, are they still correct? Explain.
