Geometry Use groups of 2. Materials: Grid paper, spinner, index cards

Try Symmetry

Copy onto cards the numbers shown below, one per card. Shuffle the cards and place them face down in a pile. Label equal sections of a spinner "0," "1," and "2."

Each partner takes a card. One partner then spins the spinner. If possible, each partner shades on grid paper the number of squares indicated on his or her card to create a figure with the number of lines of symmetry shown on the spinner. Discuss your work with your partner.

Continue, taking turns at the spinner, until no cards remain in the pile.
