Rounding Q and A

Make two identical sets of cards containing the numbers shown below. Place one set of cards face up in rows of four. Shuffle the other set and place the cards face down in a pile.

One partner removes the top five cards from the pile. The other partner guesses which cards have been chosen by asking a rounding question such as, "Are any of the numbers 2,000 rounded to the nearest thousand?" Only "yes" or "no" responses are allowed, and each positive response must be followed by a guess. The guesser begins with 50 points. Each incorrect guess costs 20 points. Also, subtract the amount shown for each type of rounding question asked:

  • to nearest ten--10
  • to nearest hundred--5
  • to nearest thousand--2

When all the cards have been identified, trade roles and repeat the procedure. The partner with the higher score wins.
