Numbers
and Operations

Number of players: 2
Materials: Index cards, spinners
Fill in the Blanks

Label equal sections of one spinner with the following numbers: 1, 3, 5, 7. These numbers stand for the numerators of fractions. Label equal sections of a second spinner with these numbers: 8, 11, 13, 16, 17, 22, 26, 29. These numbers stand for the denominators of fractions.

Each partner spins one of the spinners. Both partners then write the resulting fraction on an index card. Generate three more fractions in the same way. Each partner arranges the four fractions on the cards in order from least to greatest and then places two blank cards anywhere in the sequence. In turn, each partner spins both spinners and tries to write the resulting fraction on one of the blank cards so that the fractions remain in order. Each partner gets a maximum of three chances to find two fractions to write on the blank cards. Award yourself 1 point for each complete sequence of five fractions. Play several rounds.
