Materials: Grid paper, spinners
| Square Away
Make four game boards like the one shown below. Label equal sections of one spinner "A," "B," "C," "D," "E," "F." These letters name rows on the game board. Label equal sections of a second spinner "1," "2," "3," "4," "5." These numbers name columns on the game board.
Each group member takes a game board and shades squares so that the probability that a square chosen at random will be shaded is . Trade game boards with another group member and play the game.
Each of two group members spins a spinner. If the square in the resulting row and column is shaded, award yourself 1 point for the round. Continue in the same way, taking turns at the spinner. The group member with the most points after five rounds wins. In case of a tie, continue spinning until the spinners name a shaded square on only one game board.
