Number of players: 2
Materials: Spinner, index cards
Spin Power

Copy onto cards the numbers 1-12, one number per card. Shuffle the cards and place them face down in a pile. Label the sections of a spinner "0," "1," "2," and "3."

In turn, each partner selects a card and spins the spinner. The number on the card represents the base, and the number on the spinner represents the exponent of a power. Each partner has the option of sticking with the original exponent or spinning again in an attempt to get a higher value. Write the power resulting from your first or, if you choose to spin twice, your second spin. When all of the cards have been used, each partner evaluates his or her expressions and finds their sum. The partner with the greater sum wins.
