Picture Dilations |
Explore your school for at least 5 examples of dilations. An example might be a poster showing a famous person.
Begin by listing your examples. Then, explain why they are dilations. Next, measure the objects. Record length measures, any angle measures, as well as the scale factor used for the dilation, if known.
Finally, choose your best example of a dilation. Using your grid paper, draw a small sketch of the object. Using the same scale, dilate the object. Follow the method shown on page 380 of your textbook.
Share your dilations with the class. Do you think this is how the original object was dilated?
